About 20 years ago, I thought about creating an archetype that would be in tune with the time and place in which I live. I latched on to the image of a sportsman, a participant in Soviet parades of the 20s of the last century: a character with an unclear fate and lack of individuality. He had something that allocated him for me from that era and gave life in the era of the present. I called him David. I thought then - maybe this faceless, simple guy from the crowd will become a Hero for all of us, like the biblical David who defeated Goliath
